Box Tie Studio is Maine's first full-time shibari education studio, run by Cait (ropespaced) and Griffin (Griffin207). We host multiple rope-focused events every month, including classes for all skill levels, private and small group lessons and sessions, rope jams/socials, and play parties. Our classes are taught by experienced and knowledgeable rope instructors on topics such as consent & negotiation, specific ties & harnesses, body mechanics, connective rope, suspension, bottoming, self-tying, and much more. Following classes, we have free time to practice, play, or socialize. We also occasionally teach classes on other types of BDSM play, including impact, needles, and more.

 
We also bring guest educators to teach classes or lead discussions. Please reach out to us if you have something you would like the opportunity to present or if you would like to recommend an educator to us. We pride ourselves on giving our talented community members a platform for sharing what they love with us.  This group is open to all skill levels, and you do not have to be vetted to join. Our studio is a place to learn, grow, practice, play, and make new connections.

Our studio's missions, which will evolve over time, include:

• To create a cooperative, alternative, educational environment that can accommodate a variety of learning styles;
• To provide a safer space for everyone to be able to express, develop, and share their personal rope style; and
• To create an inclusive space with positive energy that will engage in the creative processes that are rope and rope education.
